Joan K. Thomas, age 83, of 11 Elk Ave., Ridgway, died Sunday morning, November 4, 2018, at her residence following a brief illness. She was born February 11, 1935, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Amerigo J. and Stella D. (Letchi) Allegretto. She married Floyd D. Thomas on February 11, 1956, he preceded her in death on September 4, 1999. She resided in Ridgway all her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She was a loving wife of Floyd, loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, and always welcomed many relatives and friends to her home. She was a graduate of Ridgway High School. She worked at the Nut Shop, was a bookkeeper for Sundell’s Garage and Keystone Hardware, and was the owner of the Lucky Strike Cafe in the 70’s.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Karen Y. (James) Catalano of Ridgway and Kathleen J. Thomas of Ridgway, 5 grandchildren: Daniel S. Perryman, Megan E. (Roger Christman) Catalano, Shawn D. (Malia) Thomas, Jenni K. Thomas, Brooke E. Thomas, 1 great granddaughter Parker M. Thomas, 3 brothers: Edmond Allegretto of Ridgway, James “Bleak” (Nancy) Allegretto of Virginia, Wayne (Janet) Allegretto of Ridgway, 2 sisters: Yvonne Gluck in Maine, Jeanette Hickoff of Emporium, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Ricky Amerigo Cherry, 3 brothers: Guy Allegretto in infancy, Richard and Anthony (Lefty) Allegretto and twin sisters: Theresa Allegretto in infancy and Carmella Allen.
A Memorial Mass for Joan K. Thomas will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received at the Gathering Space at St. Leo Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
