Michael P. Casolo

Michael P. Casolo, age 95, formerly of 401 N. Broad St., Ridgway, died early Friday morning, August 17, 2018, at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys following an illness of the last 2 years.  He was born August 2, 1923, in Ridgway, son of the late Frank and Jenny (Loicano) Casolo.  He married Margaret Hooper on January 9, 1960, she preceded him in death on December 21, 2014.  He resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church.  He was a graduate of Ridgway High School.  He served in the U.S. Army - 1st Army under General Bradley 27th Armored Division and was a Veteran of WW II.  He had been a self-employed truck driver for 30 years and also worked at Airco Speer for 8 years.

He is survived by 1 daughter Martha C. (George) Wingard of St. Marys, 2 grandchildren:  Brandon Wingard and Dana Wingard both of Pittsburgh, 1 step daughter Molly Griffin of Fishers, Indiana, 1 step son John Taylor of Erie, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers:  Severence, John, Anthony, and Joseph Casolo, and 2 sisters:  Mary Casolo Donato and Florence Casolo McDivitt.  

A Memorial Mass for Michael P. Casolo will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Friday August 31, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.  Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Elk County Humane Society.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
