Sandra Jean Hanes, age 64, of 3216 Goshen Rd., Clearfield and formerly of 1050 North Broad St., Ridgway, died Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2018, at the Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield following a lengthy illness. She was born January 29, 1954, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alfred A. and Gertrude H. (Taylor) DiDonato. She resided in Ridgway most of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She was a 1971 graduate of Ridgway High School, a graduate of Indiana University of Pa., and received her Master’s Degree from Penn State and Gannon University. She was RATA President, Negotiating Team, Athletic Director, Cheerleading Advisor/Coach, Junior and Senior Class Advisor, Student Council Advisor, a member of PIAA, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She had been employed by the Ridgway Area High School as a Spanish Teacher for 36 years and retired in 2011.
She is survived by 1 sister Jane M. DiDonato of Ridgway, 1 brother James J. DiDonato of New Kensington, PA, 1 niece Jessica L. (Kaleb) King of Ridgway, 1 great nephew Michael A. King of Ridgway and her significant other Jack Woodford of Clearfield. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral and Committal Services for Sandra Jean Hanes will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Officiating will be Edward Burkett, Pastor of the New Hope in Christ Church. Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 until the time of the service at 6 PM.
