Clyde A. Jack, age 94, formerly of 509 Hyde Ave., Ridgway, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 22, 2021, at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport. He was born November 28, 1926, in Ridgway, son of the late Bruce R. and Myrtle (Duffee) Jack. He married Patricia J. Finley on March 21, 1948. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2017. Clyde and Patricia enjoyed traveling and fishing together.
Clyde was a graduate of Kiski School in Saltsburg PA and attended the University of Florida, playing football at both schools. He also played for the Johnsonburg Shamrocks Semi Pro football team. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Caliente.
He resided in Ridgway for many years and was active in the community including serving as a Ridgway School Board member. Clyde had attended the United Methodist Church and Hallton Church of Christ. He was a founding member of the first Swedish Festival Committee in Mt. Jewett where he was a co-owner and the Manager of Northern Hardwood Rounds. He later retired as a consultant for Brookville Wood Products. Clyde was an inventive thinker, holding three US patents.
Clyde is survived by 1 daughter Janelle J. Bell of Columbus, OH, 1 son Bruce R. (Cynthia) Jack of Mt. Jewett, 4 grandchildren: Jerry (Jill) Bell of Columbus, OH, Leslie Bell of Columbus, OH, Adam (Michele) Jack of Smethport, and Shelley Jack of Bradford; 6 great-grandchildren: Lindsay Jack, Marissa Jack, Parker Jack, Caroline Hernandez, Nigel Bender Jack, and Mateo Barboza Jack. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 1 brother Robert Jack and a son-in-law William R. Bell.
A Memorial Service for Clyde A. Jack will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Thayer Memorial Cemetery in Ridgway. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Mt Jewett Swedish Festival, PO Box 671, Mt Jewett, PA 16740. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
