Edward F. MacDonald, Sr., age 87, of 5483 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Pinecrest Manor following an illness of 4 years. He was born May 18, 1933, in Ridgway, son of the late Maurice F. and Mary H. (Keilocker) MacDonald. He married Evelyn L. Dias on October 4, 1997, she survives. He resided in Ridgway all his life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, the Elks, American Legion, Ridgway Rifle Club, Ridgway Fire Dept.-Capital City, NRA, and the PA Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed playing the accordion, the piano, the harmonica, motorcycles, and he loved cooking for banquets. He was a graduate of Ridgway High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by PennDOT for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn L. MacDonald of Ridgway; his children: Edward F. (Sarah) MacDonald, Jr. of Arlington, Va, William J. (Jenna) MacDonald of Ridgway, Natalie L. (Mark) Aiello of Ridgway, and Neil C. (Rosaura) MacDonald of Waldorf, MD; 7 grandchildren: Ava, Marcus, Kiptyn, Mia, Kinslee, Sophia, and Maddox; 2 stepchildren: Dianne E. (Jeff) Hanson of Walkersville, MD and Adam E. Heindl and fiancee Denise of St. Marys; 2 step-grandchildren: Brooke and Hayden; 1 brother James MacDonald of Ridgway; 2 sisters: Margie Robinson of St. Marys and Ann Kennedy of Ridgway; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Phyllis (Kicker) MacDonald; 1 granddaughter Tessa; 4 brothers: Joseph, William, John, and Neil MacDonald; and 4 sisters: Grace Gregory, Ruth Krizan, Helen Powell, and Marianne Drathman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward F. MacDonald, Sr. will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Friday, September 25, 2020, at 10:00 AM with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
