James M. Urmann, age 93, of Singer Island, FL, passed away May 10, 2021, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born January 12, 1928, in Ridgway, son of the late Joseph and M. Ruth (McMackin) Urmann, Sr. He resided in Washington, D.C. for over 40 years and then Singer Island, FL. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He was a graduate of St. Leo High School and the University of Maryland. He had been employed by Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C. for over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of WW II. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews: Marilyn (John) Stott of Kiawah Island, SC, William (Therese) Urmann of Ridgway, James (Laurina) Urmann of Ridgway, A. Christine (Michael) Aiello of St. Marys, Gregory (Christine) Urmann of Jacksonville, FL, LuAnn (David) Stanley of CranberryTwp., PA, Stacey Rubino of Jacksonville, FL, Maribeth Reider Urmann of Ridgway, Thomas (Melissa) O’Connor III of London, England, Maureen (Sean) Durkin of Atlanta, GA, and John (Julie) O’Connor of Walkersville, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Joseph (Jean) Urmann, Jr., Edward Urmann, and John (Mary Lee) Urmann, Sr; 3 sisters: Sr. Ann Loretta (Mary Regis), Helen Urmann, and Ruth Ann (Thomas II) O’Connor, a nephew John M. Urmann, Jr., and his life long partner Francis Drummond.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James M. Urmann will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will be St. Leo Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Leo Church or to St. Leo School.
