Vernon E. Rogers, age 92, of 420 Lookout Ave., Ridgway, died unexpectedly, Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Penn Highlands Elk. He was born August 19, 1929 in Cooperstown, PA, son of the late Edward M. and Mary R. (Maul) Rogers. He married Elsie L. Henderson on January 10, 1952, she preceded him in death on June 24, 2011.
He resided in Ridgway for many years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and Penn State University. He had been employed by Penntech Papers, retiring in 1985.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by 1 daughter Cindy R. (Neil) Carter of Ridgway; 3 sons: Gary M. (Karen) Rogers of Lincoln Park, NJ, Stephen P. (Mary Ann Schmidt) Rogers of Pittsburgh, PA and Thomas E. Rogers of Ridgway; 5 grandchildren: Jean (John), Christy (Vince), Erin (Keith), Sarah and Andrew (Melissa); and 6 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Jake, Carter, Nadia, Eva and Seth. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 1 sister Elizabeth Baltzer and 1 brother Edward Rogers, Jr.
Funeral Services for Vernon E. Rogers will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
