Genevieve M. Stanley, age 90, of 1001 Hill St., Ridgway died Thursday morning at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.  She was born June 28, 1926 in DuBois, daughter of the late Stanley J. and Martha (Isban) Dodolak.  She married James L. Stanley on August 7, 1946, he preceded her in death on August 3, 2001.  

She resided in Ridgway for 62 years and was formerly of DuBois.  She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, the C.D. of A., the Altar Guild, and the Good Samaritan Food Bank.  She was a graduate of the DuBois High School.  She had been employed by the Ridgway High School for 18 years.

She is survived by 8 children:  James B. (Deborah) Stanley of Brookville, Patricia A. (John) McMahon of Marcy, NY, Kathleen (John) Wiley of Titusville, PA, Terrence L. (Cynthia) Stanley of Eldred, PA, Mary Jo (Patrick) Donlin of Brockway, PA, David W. (Luann) Stanley of Cranberry Twp., PA, Jennifer L. (Robert) Mercer of Ridgway, and Barbara J. (Donald) Mercer of Duncansville, PA, 20 grandchildren:  Beth, Brandon, Sean, Colleen, T.J., Megan, Charissa, Ryan, Patrick, Mark, Adam, Ben, Matthew, Eric, Danny, Alexandra, Jake, Jilly, Holly, and Hanna, 15 great grandchildren:  James, Joseph, Cara, Caitlin, Jenna, Kylie, Max, Lilly, Madeline, Maxwell, Marrick, Maddon, Delaney, Mason, and Nolan, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 son Charles J. Stanley and 1 grandson Dustin Stanley.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve M. Stanley will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Monday at 11:00 AM.  Concelebrating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church and Fr. John Detisch, Pastor of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Erie.  Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in DuBois.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
