Ronald J. Nichols, age 82, of Ridgway, died Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys. Ronald was born June 15, 1936, in Brookville, PA, son of the late Samuel and Clara (Tangren) Nichols. He was the youngest of 4 children Evelyn, Gerald, Lois and had 2 step brothers Jack and Albert. Five had preceded him in death. Ronald is preceded in death by his wives Jean Dahlquist and Barbara Wolfe. He was the father of 3 children: James (Melody) Richardson, Teresa (Gary) Osbahr, and Rhonda Mohr, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He has 1 surviving sister Lois Duchi, nephew Mike Duchi, niece Lynn Duchi and nephew Jeff Duchi, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Ronald was educated in the Ridgway School system. He went on to join the U.S. Air Force and served at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska from 1959-1961. He was a Mechanic at Caterpillar. He then went on to Law Enforcement and was a Deputy Sheriff for the Council Bluffs Sheriff Department in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He was a member of the Eagles and the V.F.W. in Ridgway, PA.
A Memorial Service for Ronald J. Nichols will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 2:30 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Friends will be received from 1:30 PM until the time of the Service at 2:30 PM.
